Three Conveyor Component Parts Every Foreman Should Keep On-Site

As the foreman on a construction or industrial site you may be in charge of not only the workers, but also problems on the site. One of the issues you may have is with conveyor components breaking down. When this happens, it can cause the entire project to shutdown until it's fixed.

Instead of waiting for hours simply to get the replacement part, then additional time for the repair, there are certain parts you can keep on-site. This will save time and get your project up and running as soon as possible:

Roller Replacements

One of the components they may go quickly, depending on usage and weight, are the rollers. These rollers, when broken or stripped, can cause severe issue including slow movement or even damage to the item on the conveyor. Make sure to keep roller replacement pieces on hand. This will allow for quick change outs and ensure that the products stay safe and keep rolling through production for the site.

Bracket Replacements

Brackets hold conveyor belts, rollers, and trays in place. Due to heavy weight, overuse, or items bumping into and getting held up on these brackets replacement of the brackets is vital. The brackets will become loose which can mean not only the loss of rollers or a tray, but also the loss of materials if the bracket breaks during a production time. You may also have to replace other components if the brackets are not replaced when an issue is first noticed.

Tray Replacements

If your conveyor has a tray at the bottom of the feed, then you may need to keep extras on hand for quick change outs. In some cases, a tray may be rated for a certain weight, but overtime that weight rating my replenish with use. Make sure that you have a replacement option that not only covers the current weight needed, but offers a higher weight rating to accommodate your needs overtime.

These are just three of the parts or conveyor components that you should consider keeping on-site as the foreman for the project. Though you may not know how to make the replacement yourself, you can still have the parts available for maintenance to install as quickly as possible. To get a solid list of parts that you need and should always have, review your conveyors and their most heavily used parts. This will give you a good idea of what to keep on hand for quick repairs.
